The Make Ready Food Hall, an exciting component of a mixed-use development in San Antonio, thoughtfully reimagines existing structures while integrating vibrant communal green spaces. Housed in a former car repair shop, the expansive 10,000-square-foot space features impressive heavy timber trusses and soaring vaulted ceilings that create an inviting and rustic ambiance, perfect for a contemporary food hall experience.

The design process was enhanced by a strategic partnership between Lake|Flato, the client, and Jean Pierre Veillet, the creative mind behind Portland's successful Pine Street Market. This collaboration, which included Timberlyne, fostered innovative ideas that shaped the vision for the food hall, ensuring it would be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. To inform their design strategy, the team conducted extensive research, visiting food halls throughout the country to identify essential features that promote a sense of authenticity and encourage innovative dining experiences. This comprehensive exploration gave the team crucial insights into creating inviting communal areas, optimizing tenant arrangements, and developing effective leasing models.

Additionally, the project offered valuable lessons in daily operations management, enabling the client to establish a seamless and efficient workflow for the food hall. Ultimately, the Make Ready Food Hall aims to be a vibrant gathering place that celebrates culinary diversity and fosters community connections within the San Antonio area.
